Hi Guys,

My Omega has only 1 key and unfortunately I do not have a car pass from VX.

Do I need to buy the pass from VX and then buy a blank key and get it programmed? or is there another way around this? Anybody on here provide key programming?

you need pass,no way round it,20 quid from most vauxhall stealers,just take logbook and proof id with you, i can program but it needs a virgin chip in the key, used ones cant be reused

 virgin chip? So if i buy the car pass from vx, can i buy a blank key off ebay and then you can programme it to the car? Hope i've understood that. Thanks for your help

yes the immobiliser chip inside the key, its known as a id40 chip, i bought a complete key off a seller called sharp edged in cheshire, he got the machine to cut the key too and charged a extra £5 on top, you need to give him key code on your car pass, should be a h followed by 4 numbers, so for 20 quid i had key cut and bought posted to my house, i just programmed it to my car then,there is  another way round it is some key places will clone your existing key, never used this method myself so cant comment on effectivnes or price, this doesnt need car pass

Can't say i've ever had a problem coding a used (off another vehicle) immobiliser chip into the immobiliser.

its news to me, your first ive heard do it, ive always had to buy new chips, but you search it and says new ones needed as old ones cant be recoded

You don't code the immobiliser chip, you accept the burnt in code on the chip on the immobiliser ECU using a tool that's capable of talking to the Immobiliser ECU.

I have had keys cut at a well known shoe repairer and they have been ok for operating the door locks I have not had them programmed. Our repairer doesnt even charge for the cutting says its my risk if they dont work.  Blank bought on Fleebay

If your key programmer says you need an unused immobilser chip, then its one of the illegal (in UK) programmers.  Be cautious using this particular piece of junk, as I have now had to try to fix 3 Alarm ECUs where owners had used this dodgy software and corrupted the ECU.
