Does anyone know of or can recommend a competent Omega mechanic/garage in (South) Sweden?

Out of interest what are you looking to have done because this site has some excellent maintenance guides?

Yeah, I know it's a long shot but still worth a try. Priority one is to fix the coolant leakage, most likely the HBV.
Considering to replace it myself but I'm a little hesitant since I'm not an experienced car mechanic.

I suppose you need to check it is hbv and not something else- any coolant leaks anywhere else? Just go through things slowly and eliminate the easy things to pin it down to the affected area (if you have not done so already). Post up where you find leaks etc.. and people will give you a second opinion and you can take a course of action from there.

Anyone know if there there many members from Sweden?

Actually I have posted a thread about the coolant leak a few months ago (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=96389.0). Now that the weather is getting better for "outdoor activities", I had first thought of trying to fix the problem myself but I must admit that I hesitate a bit.  :-\

Thanks for the tip Laszlo but from what I can see, Sehen lives in the very north of Norway, which is around 2200 km from my location ::)
Actually I'm closer to the UK, or Hungary for that matter, which both are a ~1300 km drive from my house (depending on the exact destination, of course).
Thanks anyway :y

Hey !   Don't worry most of us weren't mechanics until we got an Omega and joined OOF....me included.

Tis amazing what you can do yourself with help from the experts on here.

IF you get stuck, come online, ask a question, make yourself a cup of coffee and by the time the kettle has boiled, odds are that
you'll have the answers posted already..... Amazing chaps on OOF.

I agree completely, this forum is really amazing with lots of skilled and committed enthusiasts who contribute wholeheartedly :)
Hopefully I'll soon be standing with my head burried in the engine compartment (swearing? ;D). Thanks for all the encouragement :y

Although my location shows Luton bedfordshire UK, I actually live and work in Sweden (work for Scania and live in Sodertalje). I get back to the Uk once per month and my Omega is UK based. I normally get Darth Loo Knee to do all my big Omega jobs but I have attempted some mechanical work on the Omega 2.5V6 and replacing the HBV was one task successfully completed in about 2 hours and a few scraped knuckles and appropriate swear box donations. There is a really good guide in the maintenance guides and is easily done, although removing the scuttle does provide more room for getting to the hoses and HBV etc., Do you use only a genuine Vx replacement HBV as the cheaper pattern ones are crap!
I had issues with coolant leakage and pressure tested to see where the culprit locations were occurring.

Also look for cracks around the Expansion tank..this can loose fluid regularly and also cause pressurisation problems and overheating problems. Coolant bridge below Plenum cover is also a target area for leaks.

You can E-MAil or post a message for any further information.....willing to give advice if required.  Good luck in the meantime.

Yes mate, have a go yourself. I did it on my 2.5 out of necessity, with no time to get help. Used the guide and the forum, and job done! Not so much difficult as awkward iirc.

Strengthened by your encouraging words, I have decided to try and solve the problem myself :y
Thanks to you ScaniaV8 for your offer to give me advice if needed, I will contact you if any questions arise.
And hey, it's really nice to know that there is an OOF member so close, it's not more than 500 km to Södertälje ;)
A pressure test of the cooling system will be the first step forward. But first I have to get my hands on an old tank filler cap and modify it according this excellent guide http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90598.0...
