Jammed Cassette tape
« on: 02 May 2012, 20:55:17 »

Hi all...
I have a Bose CCR2006. Unfortunately I have a Smokie cassette jammed in. Yeah, alright, I hear you... but I like Smokie ;)
Is there any way of getting it out without destroying the unit

Yep, dismantle it. This gives an idea on separating both units http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90608.0

Ah....a ray of light..

There are four small holes in the front...seem deep...are there screws in there to take off the front, or does the whole thing come out somehow :y

Figure of speech, mate ;D

I assume that once out, by the pics, there are no wires like in the old days to disconnect. I also assume that the tape cassette unit will be accessable from the top
without splitting the two units. :y

Yep, just remove the top cover and the cassette mechanism is right there.

You need some removal tools to pull out the head unit. Allen keys required first, though, to remove the grub screws from those 4 holes.

............. if they're still present  :-\

The units fit really tight, in part due to the fact that the connectors are all pre fitted to the cage, so don't be tempted to pull on the fascia as a bit of leverage - it won't help, but will easily disengage from the rest of the HU  :-X

Hmmmmmmm.....methinks this is more for someone who knows a bit. If anyone who is coming to the Wycombe meet has the tools and knowhow, maybe I can grab a bit of help to do it there. Failing that I will have a go during next week :y
