In reference to my severe difficulties with the blind spot I've thought of replacing the box. Have been quoted a GM-refurbed box for a very reasonable price and now I need to know if this will fit. Been given these part numbers / codes: 900306/90511410 and says this will fit all models from MY94 up. Will this fit, if not, why and what options do I have?

And, if anyone has any new ideas what would be causing very itermittant stiff spot in left turns... Only left, mostly when cold, have so far not noticed it when warm. And only slow speed. this time, no play in any joints.

Have you checked the column UJ's for stiffness, its a classic symptom of stiff UJ's.

Are there UJ's in Omega steering column? I know its classic for uj's but where are they in omega? Not too obvious to see and locate... Or am I blind? Might be that also...

Answer to the original question: no. This above box is only for cars 1994-1996.

there are two types of Omega B steering box - with servotronic and without servotronic. Both are externally identical apart from the servotronic valve.

Found a suitable donor, my previous car which was written off due an accident 1½ years back and the guy that was going to repair it has decided to make it a "organ donor". Any hints on changing the steering box or just straight forward screws off and new one in?

make sure that the steering idler arm is the same length as the steering box arm

Ah, yes, of course, stupid me  Well, I will try to tackle it, I guess it will be quite a job. And I think it would be good to change the possibly lightly leaking exhaust manifold gasket at the same time.

Do the lenghts vary? Why/how? These two cars are identical so should be a straight swap, both with normal suspension, same engine and one year difference in age.

IIRC there are two lengths of idler & arm - but I've never seen anyone post up when the change happened or what models.. just that it's something to be aware of
