Was at a petrol station waiting to fill up. The car in front was a BMW and did not have an lpg filler on it that I could see. Till he stopped at the pump whipped out an adaptor, which he then proceded to screw onto something within the petrol flap area. Looked rather flimsy. Then connected the lpg nozzle to it and continued to fill. I was a bit worried seeing how the nozzle was flexing on this adaptor. Worse still I could make out lpg fumes leaking quite rapidly out around the adaptor.

Surely this cant be safe? Anyone here have this sort of connector? I quite liked the idea of the filler being discreet, but is that at the expense of reliability/lpg leak?

i have seen the same thing fitted to an old volvo (940/960) whilst filling up last week and apparantley they had theirs fitted out in poland it is supposed to be a 4 th generation fill up?...seemed a bit (as you said flimsy)..

To comply with COP 11 (in the UK) "the use of adapters for filling shall be discouraged"

Additionally, the ones that are normally hidden inside the filler it's only a 10mm thread and prone to snapping and spraying LPG all over the floor

As to adapters, we have to use them in euro land to fit their pumps.  Not an issue for me in June, due to driving a dull, boring, underpowered, tedious Insignia

The adapters we use in Euroland aren't 10mm thread though

I'd be surprised TBH, although they would wear I suppose More likely to be a gun issue

Yes, I suppose, but COP 11 seems to be quite vague in many areas. ie the above statement. Its got to be black or white. Too much of gray in the COP 11 when I tried reading it.

On the other hand this adapter seemed really flimsy. Scarily so. Especially given the weight of the nozzle and he wasnt too bothered or interested in supporting it whilst filling.

The EU adaptors seemed quite chunky in the pictures I have seen of them. The one I am referring to seemed to be simailar to this one I found via google:

There's a reason I/we keep saying that a UKLPG approved installer isn't that important
