Some LPG questions
« on: 26 May 2012, 00:50:36 »

I know naff all about LPG but I have just purchased a second hand kit which came off a Omega 2.5. It's a Bigas sequential system. I think it's a older system but it all seems to be present and correct. I removed it myself (and Mr Knee) so Know where all the bits and bobs go but I have what are probably some dumb newbie owners. Plan is to fit it to my 3.0lt. So I'm going to assume the 2.5 jets will be to small. Do I just go to a local dealer and buy new jets? Are they universal or do I need to get ones which are specific to the Bigas system? There is no gas filter fitted. Does there have to be one? and if so can I buy a universal one (one inlet two out lets one for each bank). It was a pretty shoddy fitting job and I want to make it a pucker safe install. To this ends I want to really replace the copper pipe which runs front to rear. Can I swap it for the flexiable type and if so what bore size will I need? I'll get some piccies up of all the bits tomorrow so hopefully it becomes clearer. Where is the best place to buy the parts I'm going to need? Does anybody know of a good internet/mail order firm who are willing to help by insuring I get the right parts? I've found several local firms to me. Is it just a simple job of phoning up and getting it inspected once fitted? Or are some firms funny about doing that? One more question. I've downloaded the bigas software for reprogramming the LPG ECU to suit the 3lt. However I noticed that there's no port on the ECU. Now does that mean the brain has to be removed from the car to program? Or is there a kinda tech 2 port on the LPG wiring loom I just haven't noticed yet? If there's anybody on the site which is local to me who knows how to set this system up and has the equipment I am more than willing to cough up the beer tokens to get it set up right.

On the Stag system the plug is in the loom somewhere. Yours "might" be the same. I'd concentrate on the ability to programme and set it up, as you are, because it's a pointless exercise fitting anything otherwise. LD may be able to advise on what lead you need and if it's available publicly. Some manufacturers are fussy about who they let fiddle with "thier" software, even if you've paid for it, or not. Plug in point, lead to lap top, lap top with required port, (usb normally not an issue) software you have.

Nozzles/jets depend on what's fitted to the injectors as to what type and thread size you need, which depends on the injectors themselves. The old Stag system ran 3.0mm with a single feed vap. The newer system with a double feed vap has 2.3mm but it really  needs starting from scratch and work up to a size that suits that system, to calibrate it effectively.

Copper pipe is a rather nuisance to work with, poly flex is easier by far, but needs the correct fittings. 8mill diameter.

It will run without a filter but better to fit one, or two if its duel feed, to protect the injectors. They are simple standard items and fairly cheap.

Inspection can be tricky depending on attitude IME. Both yours and thiers. You'll be feeling your way, so don't expect it to pass first off. But on the other hand they can be right picky buggers so luck of the draw really.

Tinley tech are reliable but a bit expensive, but have a word with LD if he doesn't pop in, see of Tilo the artist that's impossible to contact is about yet. Reasonable on cost and good service IF you can get hold of him.

Needs two people really, and a lap top that can be away fromains powerfor more than two seconds. Sigh...

Calibration is simple, IF all is well. Then it's drive round while fiddling with multipliers on the map to get it cock on. Depends if the software learns etc

Been looking at the et up I've got. apparently I can link it to the Lambda sensors. I wonder if that means it will self learn

If you have the software on the Lappy that might show an a adaption or self learn option? Maybe?

It will need to see 02 anyway.

that particular setup will not self learn, neither will you get a "map" to fiddle with.its all very different to a stag setup. :y
