Starting problems with elite 2.5 petrol auto
« on: 10 June 2012, 08:07:20 »

 >:( Hi all I recently purchased a w reg omega elite 2.5v6 auto. It has done 125000 miles and has extensive service history and looks well cared for. In the week that i have had her she has failed to start on a number of occasions and the frequency of the problem is increasing. When it happens it turns over but fails to spark. I spoke with seller aand he has no idea as to the cause.  He informed me that the crank sensor was recently replaced. If left for a period of time it tends to start easily although recently this has been getting more difficult.
Apart from this the car drives smoothly and is a pleasure to own so if anybody knows what it may be I would welcome your help.
many thanks
Steve

Hi again. The problems seem to occur when it has been used for a while and then left 20 or so minutes. What is the paper clip test? and can a mechanical thicko do it?

Hi many thanks to all respondents. Car has started perfectly since I posted and I've yet to find a paper clip. Will do tests today. Steve
