My uncle has a very nice 3.0 V6 Jag (2001) that he never uses and might well flog to me if I asked him. The temptation is huge. Damn bloody MV6. It's let me down at the time when I really, really need it the most  >:( >:(

yeah, she's my baby, just in my bad books right now!

I have a T reg escort I can knock around in after tomorrow, that'll keep me mobile and help with transport of bits!

I've been up flying all night, had no sleep, but now can't sleep. I might grab a coffee go out and rip a gearbox out, against my better judgement!

Also spoke to ins co in more depth about conversion and reason behind it. Apparantly I can add "transmission modification" in my online control panel, and it has no effect on premium providing I don't want it to increase the value of the car.

So I might, just might, be able to manualise it yet!

As tempting as it may sound I would avoid the Jag, being a 2001 I assume it is either going to be an S-Type or an X-Type I work at a Jaguar specialist and autobox problems and bushes are very common on the S-Type, at £50 a bush and 3 bushes each side at the rear this can get pricey as they rarely fail one at a time.
It is common for the Rear ARB bushes and rear radius arms to fail on the X-Types, the radium arms can be pretty pricey, on the majority of them lately I have noticed that the rear trailing arm bushes are now also starting to fail, It is also common for the transfer boxes to fail on these.

The rear brake pipes on the X-Types seem prone to serious corrosion along with the front brake pipes on the S-Types so which ever it is it could also start to give you a load of grief and end up costing you a fortune, mileage doesn't tend to play a big factor in tese problems, I have seen these bushes fail on cars with sub 40k miles on the clock.

By the way I fired the miggy up to have another listen and see what was going on...

The gear selection is all out of whack.

Put it in reverse, and the car goes forwards!!

I think something inside the box has let go big time. If I get it off, I'll attempt a post mortem...
