Credit cards for bad history people
« on: 09 April 2008, 14:16:56 »

As part of rebuilding my credit history, I want to get a credit card just for the nice bits in credit reports.

I have had a default against me (now paid off) - but one of the quickest ways of rebuilding history is to buy say one food shop a month then pay it off as quickly as possible.

Any of the financial experts on here have ideas on which companies to approach?

Credit limit under £100 not bothering me, 40% interest don't care.

...probably someone like Capital one if your paying almost immediatley and not concerned about low limits....

Havent used them myself though so not sure how service is.

Yep -- Capital One is likely to be your best bet --- I think the interest they charge is based on the risk you represent !!!!

If capital one wont take you there is another card from provident, there have 40% + and will take on just about any one, think its the Vanquis card

There service was excellent however, they announced massive redundancies in the Uk yesterday as they move the customer support off shore.

There are a few, Vanquis, Virgin and Capital One. If you pay off every month the interest shouldn't bother you. I have a Cap one with £500 limit, can't get in too deep and its handy to have sometimes. Discipline is the key, whatever that is !! Also helps if you pay your utilities, council tax etc on time.

It probably wouldn't contribute to building a credit history though. :-/
