I have a strange one now, sometimes while driving when I slow down and then hit the fast peddle the car hesitates like I have flooded it, it then takes off ok. Also when slowing down to a stop for lights etc the revs sometimes drop to about 500 for a few seconds then picks it selve backup to 600, is this correct or do I need to clean or replace something.

this reminded me of

O'Driscoll was sinking in a bog, near Killarney in County Kerry, and seemed a goner when Big Dermot McCann wandered by...

Is it an auto - mine will do that sometimes when i dont give it chance to sort itself out

IMO the hesitating is a "feature" of the auto box as said previously. The revs dropping I cannot recall mine doing.d

Depending on the mileage (normally around 80K) most would suggest a filter and fluid change (guide here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90664.0).

But there does not appear to be much wrong with it to me. I am sure I will be corrected by somebody more experience on here if i'm wrong  ::)

edit: I now "select" a lower gear if I know I am going to want to boot it when approaching junctions I normally go through so as to avoid it hesitating

Speak to SMD about this symptom.

He had exactly this, until I corrected his cam timing by several degrees...  ;D :y

But wouldn't there be other symptoms if the cam timing was out.  :-\

If you'd said cam sensor then I would have kept quiet  :-X

Ahhh the 2.6::)  ;)

My understanding of the post is that, in the moment between stopping and then not doing, there is that hesitation from the box while it tries to get into 1st gear and then off it goes. Since I read this I have managed to do it a couple of times and realised what the op is concerned about.

I have also noticed the little "blip" of the rev's hunting down and then settling to tickover when coming to a hard stop. Which I have decided is the same sort of thing.

AFAICR my previous 2.2 auto did the same before and after cam belt and then a sensor change  (for other reasons)

I have always accepted this as normal ?

I've not experienced the issue and subsequent improvement myself.

All I know is that

A) SMD's car was experiencing a 'lag' when putting foot to floor.

B) It's timing belt was checked because of concerns with previous fitter

C) Timing was found to be a few degrees out

D) Timing was corrected

E) Lag disappeared

In fairness, it could have been something indirect, EG reseating a loose vacc pipe during cambelt work... but I think it's more than a co-incidence that once corrected, the issue disappeared.

Only throwing ideas into the bag, guys :y

Was the SMD's lag happening every time he put his foot down or like the op (and me) has described

In all other situations when I want mine to go, it goes, and I think well for a 4 pot  ::) on LPG

Just a follow up, this does not happen all the time and it does seem to happen more when the weather is warm

A little lag is normal on the inferior DBW engines with autoboxes, if you confuse it by lifting, then asking for power.  Affects 2.6 and 3.2 models.

This doesn't affect the superior non DBW engines.


This lag is miles more noticible with the AC Stag LPG setup, but definately still present on petrol, and proved on multiple cars.
