Omega 2.2 CD '02 Auto box issues.
« on: 07 July 2012, 03:43:52 »

Hi all!

I know there's been quite a few postings on the site about 'auto box issues', but I thought I'd list the exact issues specific to mine so as anyone who wishes can advise me on them.

Firstly, when I start up, I never have any immediate problems and MOST of the time the car operates without fault. I've had many automatics and when the car runs OK, it behaves as I would expect.  :)

However..........  >:(

Occasionally, when decelerating, the box will thud down through a gear.

Very occasionally the 'Transmission Electronics Light', (car/spanner), will come on. This usually, (BUT NOT ALWAYS), results in 'Limp Mode' being activated. Turn off the engine and immediately restart and the light and the symptoms are gone immediately and sometimes for weeks.

VERY, VERY occasionally I have momentarily lost drive. It only lasts for a 'split second' returns immediately with a slight boot on the accelerator peddle.

Not sure it's the selector switch, as although some of the symptoms are similar to those of a malfunctioning selector switch, I have had no trouble shifting from 'reverse' to 'drive' or '1,2,3' and have had no problems with the lights flashing or giving mixed messages.

And again, not sure the thrust washer could cause all these issues either.

Plenty 'engine history', but no 'box history'. It has covered 107,000 miles.

I feel sure the box must be serviceable as it runs very well most of the time.

Any advice gratefully received!

Cheers!  :y
