Alarm issue! And Scottich members question :)
« on: 07 July 2012, 22:20:43 »

First up i have a bizarre with the alarm on my 03 plate mv6! Sometimes when i get in the car and start it up the alarm goes off, this only happens very occasionally. When it goes off i have no idea how to turn it off so seems that driving a few metres seems to turn it off. Any help??

Also, is there any members in here who do cambelt changes and other maintenance on a v6??

How's it going. Only new to the forum today. Noticed that you are from bishopton. Would you happen to know anywhere that would have any scrap omegas? I'm looking for a 2.2 engine and can't seem to find one anywhere. I stay down in Greenock.

Have a read through Battery Charging & Starting Diagnosis.

When I first got my 2.6 it was behaving exactly as you describe. I was advised that low battery voltage could cause the power sounder to trigger (which seemed odd because the car was starting fine) but when I checked the battery it had one dead cell.

If your main battery is good then remove the power sounder immediately (before it spontaneously combusts...........)

Powersounder may be causing it, as could a slowly dying battery.
