The joy's of mountain biking,in town!.
« on: 24 July 2012, 07:59:52 »

Hi'all,This last few weeks I've decided to try to regain some muscle tone,as old age (61) tends to make one lazy ,
so I borrowed my sons mountain bike.Isn't it brilliant to get to ignore every rule of the road that one has been taught over the years,You know the ones that I mean,No signals, bumping door mirrors as you undertake in traffic, use a pelican to cross the road, and many more.
As I live in the South Wales valleys there are some great mountain trails, some not so great uphill, but the downhill ones are really brilliant,Iv'e just got back home now as i'm writing this, having nearly got wiped out by some dozy git in a jap 4x4 pick up as I was waiting at a junction.
So if you do see me,doing the bad things that most bikers do,don't forget to give me a wave.

All the best,slightly knacked Alfie.

Yes, recently decided the same and have been clocking up the miles on my bikes.

I bought a mountain bike about 12 years ago but didn't get on with it that well, so it has languished in the garage for years. Been taking it out a lot this year and I love it. Plenty of countryside around me to explore.

Had great fun in the spring, but the last month or two I've got fed up with me and the bike getting plastered in mud every time so have dusted off my 30 year old Raleigh racer and been sticking to the roads until the ground dries out. Already had a few near-death experiences thanks to the appalling standards of driving these days.  :(

There are a few cycle ways round here, which is good. But at some point you gota get on the road. Not something I relish these days.

Oh and by the way, has anybody encountered hard core ramblers. Good lord. Don't use "their" footpath what ever you do.  :o
