test zone
« on: 15 August 2012, 00:35:29 »

Hello   Can anyone help with advice about fitting new rocker cover gasgets?
I am getting a lot of bother trying to fit a new one to the passenger side one to my V6 3 litre estate version - as it is very hard to get to it - everything seems to be in the way of fitting a thin bit of rubber in place as I try to put in place on the engine.  The drivers side is relatively easy compared to the passenger side. Every time I think I have it in place I get an oil leak dripping down onto the manifold heat shield thus producing a fire risk with lots of smoke.

I use a rubber bungee cord to hold wiring etc out the way during fitting.

Is a bit more fiddly, but never had a leak problem, Ive just fitted the gasket to to cover, goo'd up ready, and gently maneuver into place.

I presume youve read the how to guide in the maint section?

I've found that removing scuttle panel gives a fair bit more maneouvering room.

Remove the plastic tray from around the wiring loom, that will give enough room to allow fitment of the cam cover and gasket :y
