I think the problem is trying to prove that the person is who they say they are. Most of the scum from this country can be traced on the PNC whereas the scum from over the water can give false names and addresses and unless they've been caught before they can get away with it >:(
Yeah. Cutting down on police nummbers will help, won't it?

I can feel one of my turns coming on >:(

what happened STMO ?  ???
The police are having a crackdown on uninsured drivers, Cem. It is costing the rest of us millions in insrance premiums. These two areas have a population high in immigrants from Asia and, of course, they're not law breakers, they just don't understand the law.  ::)
they understand it better than us they know all the tricks mate >:( >:( >:(

I picked up on two amazing "facts". First is 1.2 million driving without insurance. - I still can't see why it cannot be made law to carry insurance and display MOT validity in window like most other countries do. Having said that I suspect that each other EU country will have a similar amount of uninsured drivers too. If you have a prang there and then on the spot you can ask for the other drivers details. No details avalable then just call the police.

Second fact was that the aiuthorities are just about to seize their one MILLIONTH vehicle maybe as soon as today. That is one heck of a lot of £100 cars!!
they want to put it on number plates like they do in germany they got mot and tax on them :y :y

Not sure that's a good idea. We would all end up paying for it and it would only be detected when a copper looked at the plate. ANPR is supposed to do that already.
Of course some people would make a fortune counterfeiting the plates.

To my iternal shame I drove for nearly a year without insurance :(

It was a genuine mistake on my part, I thought the insurance had renewed automatically and taken my premium via direct debit as usual, it hadn't.   >:( >:(

When I discovered the fact I was mortified thinking about what could have happened if I had caused an accident or worse seriously injured somebody, or my passengers. >:( >:(

I always make sure that will never happen again :y :y :y

It's the bastard that don't care, all I can say is that they must have no conscience, should be shot in front........ :y :y

First strike fine, second strike and you lose your license (if you had one, otherwise skip this step), three strikes and it's jail time and/or deportation. Job done.

programmer logic ;D ;D

Lunchtime news featured mobile, on-line, finger-print readers being used by the Police. Hopefully this will help the Police process them a but quicker.

I'm always gobsmacked that the fine for no insurance is such a small amount compared to an insurance premium. Ok, there are points as well, but a £200 fine is very tempting ...............

Fines should be more as points on a 'non-existant' driving licence are meaningless. Bloody insurance cost a fortune now, especially for the younger. My son was quoted £4500 for a 1.1 fiat seicento:D

We went the Admiral Multi Car route to help Master Vamps get on his way, 2 years later we are about to review this as although it pulled his premium down a lot, both of ours went up.. ::)  With 2 years no claims he is getting quotes sub £1k so is likely to be on his own, I have been shopping around, just waiting for the renewal to come through to compare..... :)

..........
My son was quoted £4500 for a 1.1 fiat seicento.  :D

A mere £900 for my 23 yr old daughter on the same car.  ??? ??? ??? The bl00dy car was only £1500

While my son was fined a mere £180 for driving his mate's mum's car without insurance ...... hardly a deterrent!  ??? ???

Exactly. That's why I say it should be on the car. Car not insured? Driver guilty, whoever they say they are. They can find out who they really are when they get to the nick.

......in the West Midlands and West Yorkshire, dont understand the law regarding car insurance. I'll bet they could fill out a benefits form with their eyes closed. Are we seriously expected to believe that these tossers are ignorant of the law? They certainly know about their human rights. Grrrrrrrrrrr >:(

That's why insurance premiums are so high around here >:(
