Front hub question
« on: 27 August 2012, 14:28:28 »

we have 2 omegas in the family. Now both of them are recently bought and are on steel rims.
I have got 2 sets of good alloys with tires from jap cars - both sets are with 5x114.3 mm Bore: 67.1  Offset: 35 to 45

So i have an idea in the back of my head - cant i possibly get hubs and disks to a descent machine shop and get additional threaded holes made in them so that new holes are between old ones? I know for a fact its possible on the back hubs/disks. What about front ones?

Bear in mind alloy wheels here cost more than in UK, but workforce is cheap. Especially when a mate of mine is a lathe specialist.

Whilst this might be possible, you'll also need to modify the discs in a similar fashion. Not sure whether this would weaken the hubs or not though :-\

I believe that Cem has different pcd wheels on his car, 120?. Perhaps he'll be able to help with adaptor plates... :y

I thought that route as well ( I mean adapter plates ), but 2 things should be noted : 1- one set usually cost in the region of a descent alloys; 2 - offset on both set of rims I have match omega original ( or come very close) and if adapter plates were used it would make it wrong and cornering might be limited, as well as arches might touch tires due to them being so far out.

But I have an ace up my sleeve - if my mate bails out - i will just use his lathe myself - had full training while taking my degree in UK. ;)
