Omega codes
« on: 11 September 2012, 19:53:30 »

Yes I know another code problem, but I have looked on the forum and allthough I found the paper clip trick and read the faults spat out by the ecu I cannot make any sense as to what is normal on cranking but not starting the engine.
The codes are: 73---74---129---57---21---19---145.
The specs of the vehicle are 1999 2.5 v6, bought as none runner ( blown head gskt ). Replaced fuel pump replaced crank sensor, the fuel can be pumped to the fuel rail by shorting the relays but no ignition, not a cough. Any ideas.

If no fuel & spark when cranking you`ve got a dodgy crank sensor (19). Does the EML flash whilst cranking over (145)

Thats cause of non starting, crank sensor is feked.  :)

2.5 V6 probably has the strongest gasket of all the engines, its very, very rare to fail.

Its more like an oil cooler failure, or miss diagnosed. Things like mayo on the neck filler, are not a sign of HG failure.  :y :y

73   Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage Low
74   Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High
129   Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Voltage Low
57   Idle Air Control Voltage Low
21   Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage High
19   Incorrect RPM Signal
145   Immobiliser Wrong Signal

Lots of errors here that would have me looking for plugs unplugged, blown fuses or chopped wires.

The problem is that some or all of these could be stored codes caused by previous attempts to find the fault by unplugging things.

You could save yourself a lot of time by getting it on a code reader that can clear the stored codes so you can see what remains.

Ignore the MAF faults until the 19 is cured. The Motronic 2.8.x often throws erroneous MAF faults when the crank sensor plays up

Thanks everyone, got loads to work on, one thing is if the ecu is a motronic bosch  do I use bosch crank sensor, I have tried replacing the one in the car but this was a gm type. Is it bosch or gm I,m tempted to use a bosch.
