The second was on my back which i went to see about today , turns out i have  prolapsed discs 2 or possibly 3 that need to be removed  :( been in agony for months now , specialist will give me all the options and any risks involved with the surgery .... doctor said you have something quite bad here which is never easy hearing  :(

sorry to hear that EMD..  :(

IF there is any other option other than surgery to solve the problem, I recommend dont take risks involved with surgery..

and its better you take advice from more than 1 doctor..

A friend of mine has just recovered (~2 months recovery) from having sections of prolapsed disc removed (I think that's what it was - I can dig up the exact procedure if you like) .. he waited five years to have the operation and his first comment, even part way through recovery, was "I wish I hadn't waited so bloody long!"

He's now pain free, completely mobile and enjoying a new lease of life - mind, he's only 33!

Though by the sound of it they're talking about removing entire discs in your case and fusing the remainder together with a bridge?

Yes thats what he said , the discs will be removed and did wonder how it would all be joined back together . Im a bit worried about things going wrong and being paralised but jumping to conclusions before ive seen the spinal specialist i guess but only natural to be worried   :(

Lowest part of the back 3 discs need to come out ..

I can sympathise completely. I'm seeing the spinal surgeon at the end of next month with a view to a double fusion at the base of my spine.
