Just goes to prove that scaring and humiliating children is no substitute for effective teaching.

When I was at school, I always found most effective teachers knew their subject well and could teach it effectively, with a consistent and fair don't take any crap off any pupil discipline.

The best teacher with this approach eventually became the headmaster of a school in the area and it was so good, houses in the catchment area had a price premium and it was always mentioned is an estate agents description for a house for sale if it was in the catchment area.

during my school years I discovered that the best teacher was the one with the shortest skirt and sexy body and long black hair
 
seriously she was an English teacher.. And I fell in love..    I finished the whole semester book within a month , summerized all chapters and answered all questions in all chapters..     one day when she checked my notebook (not computer!) she found all chapters to be finished    and said you are the most hardworking in the class   yep.. but I was actually the laziest
 
anyway after everytime tell the lesson looking my eyes   but although I was tall , being a 4 eyes I had no chance

Russian method of general attitude : force somebody to do what they don't want to or can't , if you were weaker than him attack his weakest point. Although it is not the joke section I feel I must get down a silly joke here, which is well representing our experiences with Russian people. Okay it's occured after the 1956 uprising against Russian army and forced communism in Hungary as Communist Party decided of giving a whale to the Zoo of Budapest. There was a smaller trouble though whale couldn't be found on neither Earth nor heaven. Russian KGB started handling this issue found and arrested a man soon who was got standed in front of leadership of Party. "Right but where is the whale?" - asked the First Secretary of Party at the time a KGB man gave a huge punch to the arrested man who started imitation of moving of the whale : "I am a whale, I am a whale !" ...

I'm not sure of it is funny or tragic.
