strange noise

when i accelerate theres a strange noise coming from behind the dash that goes with the speed of the engine. like a wurring sort of wooshing noise.  :-\ like a vacuum pipes broken but would there be any behind the dash. its a 2001 mv6

A whizzing noise..? I put it down to the cam belt, but I'm by no means sure.

They all seem to do it though. If we're talking about the same noise of course.

It could actually be a split or worn through servo or vac pipe. So worth a good check round the engine bay. Especially where the brake servo to plenum passes next to the ac pipe on drivers side of plenum by bulk head. If the clip brakes, and they often do, the servo pipe will rub through. Hissing, loss of performance, bad idle etc can result.
