??? icv / knock sensors
« on: 06 October 2012, 13:41:14 »

hi to all, have had previous posts about some of the issues i have and have since last post had rocker covers done as the plug wells were filled etc. at this point i also had code 0330 knock sensor bank 2 but after getting rocker covers done that went but got 0325 knock sensor bank 1 in its place. i also had spanner light come on now and again and put that down to gear box oil level; as had some issues with that also. today i got it wrong by checking level of atf, i jacked up drivers side but never ran engine, when undone the plug atf poured out, once it stopped i started engine and squirted some in but as doing so some still trickled out so am i right in assuming that there was too much in first place? i then lowered car none  came out so raised car again and put in plug and went for wee drive, gear change seemed fine, but as driving spanner light came on so stopped car and done pedal test and got 0325 which was there but now 0330 also, so sorry if sound jibberish but i know very little about these cars. so anyway was reading some posts and wondered if the icv could be problem? car does have wee tick over problem. can anyone suggest what to do now? and is there any members around fife that are good with these that can help? many thanks :(

Due to removing the fill/level plug as you did, with the engine stopped, you now don't have enough ATF in your gearbox. ATF level should be checked with the car level, but with the engine running after you've moved the selector through Drive & Reverse a few times.

Your engine doesn't have an idle control valve.  :y

ok, so went back out got car up to temp. jacked car up loosened off the plug and some more came out, i decided to drop car and let it drain to stop which it did i checked gears by moving a few times drive/reverse etc and again jacked car up and squirted some more in again some dripped out i dropped car and just a small bit dripped out i jacked up put plug back and went for wee drive all seemed well except one wee hold on gear after tight left bend but otherwise seems fine,it's never been the smoothest but anyway, do you reckon too much in in first place? i took it round the right hand bend that i use daily where it always as come off bend does not change up until 3500/4000 rpm i tried today and it seems to change gear fine. could the atf be over filled causing these problems? will keep eye on for next couple days thanks for you continued support. :y
