Imho, every gurkha and direct family should get a UK pasport.  In fact, if I had my way, they would get 2 each

+1 ... a loverly bunch of people .. but sometimes not the sharpest pencils in the box !!!

I well remember a major run-in with a small group of them "down the back" of the aircraft between Katmandu and Hong Kong .. we were taking them away on a 6 month tour of duty ......  they took one look at the food provided by Nepal Air Services and decided it was all wrong ....and to the poor ALM's chagrin ( he was a very young Sgt) opened their packs and started to prepare their own meal ........  which involved - they thought - lighting hexamine stoves to cook ... all on the aircraft floor !!!  ALM got a bit upset and I was sent down to help .... They decided to suddenly not understand english and ignore me ... but it all got sorted out ... I simply got the crew on oxygen then depressurised the aircraft, fairly quickly to 17000 ft cabin altitude .. at which point the hexy stoves all went out and so did the gurkas ..... repressurised, they recovered, and they behaved impeccably from then on .. and even took us out for a curry in HK .. ... asking us many times NOT to report the incident to the British Army Liaison Officer .....

Never attended the "College of Knowledge" ..   SNCO Aircrew for my whole career ... much rather be the top of a small tree as a senior Warrant Officer than the bottom of as big one as a Flt LT ..

You could get away with SO much more .....

YUP ... Aircrew Cadet to Master Engineer .. 38 years service and probably loved 99% of it..
