Just wondering what your thoughts are on the life expectancy of a Crank Sensor  .
Had a blip with mine last week, wouldn't start when my Wife tried it - but it went for me 20 minutes later (didn't get the fault codes - would they still be there ?). Noticed that it's maybe taking an extra turn or two to start than normal which was a symptom prior to its last failure.
Just checked back on my paperwork and the one on there now has done 55k miles in 2 1/2 years. Does that sound about right. If it replaced the original - it has only lasted half the miles, OR is it one of those unique characters of the Omega that it'll please itself anyway.
I've ordered one anyway and will change it next week as a precaution.
I know TB champions carrying a spare anyway - but what's realistic or do other things affect the life of them ??

Hi Mate, im pretty sure there is a guide on here showing how to feed/place the crank sensor away from the heatshields to prolong the life of it, instead of the vx way which is vice versa!

crank sensor work in a hot area and we know all degrade by heat and time.. however, I have witnessed that none of the parts bought later for the car keeps up like the factory fit..may be rare exceptions..

as fitted from the factory ime your lucky to see 100,000 miles from one.Once the wiring has been rerouted on the replacement they should last as long as the car I would think.

Thanks for that - not sure if the last replacement is following the original routing or not ( I didn't change it) but I'll make sure the new one does.
56k -  - I'd rather be pro-active and change it now, than wait 'til I'm in a hurry to get somewhere and then 'the computa sez no'

All V6 users should have a spare. I have already replaced the spare I used last weekend

I have a spare and also had a spare spare,which I sent via post a couple of weeks ago,to a new member in distress who wanted to get a definite diagnosis of his problem.
Apparently pennies were very tight for him,so I went against my better judgement and trusted him.
Havent heard from him since.

We are like a family here, we help each other out on the forum, and put ourselves out for others . But this can easily be ruined by those who, fortunately rarely, take advantage 

Of course, there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation, so keep trying to contact member

However, rather than name-and-shame, I'd suggest if it comes to that, ask one of the admins to put it on the disputed list in Items for Sale. Please.
