Car not starting
« on: 24 November 2012, 16:02:07 »

Hi, car not starting, now i m confused whether its Battery or Fuel. as it had a range of 5 miles only. when turning the ignition to start switch off all lights on the dashboard and then when released it comes back. and sometimes it makes beep sounds.#

what would be the problem?

Thanks,

A bit confused here.  Is the engine turning over? ???

If it does not, and the lights dim when trying, it is the  battery. ;)

It most likely is the battery, and especially if the lights are dimming as you try

Battery flat.

With a range of only five miles it mught be worth topping up with fuel from a can before trying to drive it anywhere with an incline.

Is it diesel or petrol, manual or automatic?

Thanks,

Pull out the powersounder and junk it mate - when ours packed in it ran battery flat. ;)  When recharged was ok

Oh and put some fuel in it before you try again ::)

Agree its battery related.
Jump leads linked to a donor car would resolve your curiosity. Sounds like battery though. Mine went flat a few days ago and that was just over four years old. Dash lights were normal until I turned the starter, which just about clicked, and then they dimmed right down. Fitted new battery and it's fine again now.
Reference the beep, it sounds like the power sounder is trying to go off due to sensing voltage change. I would remove it and bin it as said above.  :y
