Now I am normally, usually, not mislead by headlines.

But, looking at the BBC News web page I saw "Comet could close within weeks".

Now you may have read that in only one way, and as it is meant.

Me though, thinking of the Mayan prediction that the World will end next month in 2012, I instinctively had a vision of a comet approaching the World, closing on us all within weeks and bringing about the apocalypse!!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!!!

I think something's already hit our local Comet. Had a look round while waiting for the rev limiter to get out of TK Maxx and half the laptops had keys missing. I think they are waiting for a "special" kind of bargain hunter. 10% off a laptop with half a dozen keys missing doesn't strike me as much of a bargain.

I think something's already hit our local Comet. Had a look round while waiting for the rev limiter to get out of TK Maxx and half the laptops had keys missing. I think they are waiting for a "special" kind of bargain hunter. 10% off a laptop with half a dozen keys missing doesn't strike me as much of a bargain.

Oh dear Kevin, Comet are sinking fast now and will soon be all gone once all stock, even that which may be faulty, has sold through or gone to clearance dealers.

Sad, because our local one was excellent and it formed a great competitor to those other stores.

A family of 3 down the road from me are all stuffed.
There lad went last week.
His mam goes next week and the bloke will get the job of locking the doors on the way out

I had 10 yrs at west brom hdp and its successor wolves hdp/repair/call centre.... I worked with some very good people at both places but also worked with some right knob heads there..... I had a phone call last week from a friend who told me they arrived for work on monday morning only to be told go to canteen please lads we`ve a meeting at 7.30am.... Meeting started with service centre general manager telling them "Thanks for all your hard work all year guys........ But your all redundant as of 7am... Please clear your lockers and go home...You`ll all be paid your holidays owed and December pay..." Sad way to see this company go down the drain but i said when Opcaptia took over its only a matter of time before Comet goes the same way as MFI...... They got paid to take over Comet and just ran it into the ground, trust me they will make money on this administration proccess...... Just hope my pension plan is safe ... I`ve heard that stays with  DARTY the former parent company of comet.....
