Dont just disconnect it.Remove it. There have been several incidents where they have caught fire and burnt Omegas to a crisp after they have strted to give problems. :y

Interesting.....thanks for the info will remove :y can you tell me is the sounder playing up because the latch has been replaced...it seems to be something to do with the doors opening and closing..will not shut up.... then just stops....... also comes on when driving..could it be  a worn wire in the harness???  ::)

Usually it goes loopy when the internal batteries get low on power. Then the batteries leak across the circuit board causing a short circuit, which is where the fire comes in.
Doubt it would be connected to the door latch.

Thank you....they are robust cars and are great workhorses enginewise just keep going with plenty of inside space, cannot get anything the size to replace it thats why I want to keep it running as long as possible, this is number 11 vauxhall......   use mine for towing.... but the  electrics seem to let them down.... :y

As others have said just remove the power sounder, and replace with a new unit if required.

The garage do not seem up to it if they have to phone Vauxhall' technical on such an issue.

As for the central locking, why is it disconnected?  You can open the  drivers door with your key no matter what happens with the C/L.  Then get another Vx garage to reactivate the C/L and / or resolve any remaining issues with that and the latch. :y :y

Simples :D :D :D ;)

Guide for removing sounder.
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90675.0

I have done it by just removing the screw and prising the scuttle panel up,then using a small ratchet spanner or socket. This saves removing the wipers etc,but there is a risk of breaking the scuttle panel as its plastic.

Hiya Guys
Next instalment.....took the car into vx garage  as the sounder was not stopping at all and left it going mad.....apparently there was water in it so they dried it out but still did not work so disconnected it and left it in place having cracked the scuttle......I said I wanted it removed   but they assured me 100% it was safe, if I wanted it removed it was another £148.00....this weekend we are going to remove same, not taking any chances :y

Hi our weather has been so bad that I asked them to  fit a battery for me and look at the other problem at the same time, as I was away....l thought it was quicker and did not want to leave it where it could be a bother :)
