leaking oil
« on: 04 January 2013, 17:02:58 »

my dads omega v6 has a stink of burning oil after driving it and is using a good litr or so every 700 miles. it looks to be leaking onto the cats at the back of the engine. any ideas. and the bar that runs across the car underneath between the gearbox and engine is soaked in oil

Cam cover gaskets leaking due to neglecting to regularily clean the breathers.Clean the breathers and replace the gaskets with genuine GM only. Change the oil at maximum 5000 mile intervals and clean the breathers at least every other oil change.
Guides for breathers and gasket change are in the maintenance guides section. :y

99.9% chance its the rocker covers and a lack of breather servicing .. :)

Check the plug wells for oil and read up in the maintenance guides   :y :y

EDIT : Must type faster  :)

Usually the answer is the cam cover gaskets have blown, leaking oil, due to the breathers being blocked up. ;)
