What engine?
Any codes stored?
Was it a genuine sensor?

Idle control valve working? They need a good flush with crab cleaner periodically, with light oil...?

Try starting it with icv disconnected.  If no good reconnect and try starting with MAF disconnected.

Quick easy checks.

As said above any codes?

Also note that its not unknown for new genuine Vx crank sensors to be doa!

Assume you got correct sensor - was it from a Vx dealer?

Yep had exactly the same on my old Elite - but started and ran ok with maf disconnected - new maf cured.  :y
