1. Chuka Umunna MP, Labour's shadow business secretary
"HMV is a national institution that has been a feature of our high streets for over 90 years so this news is deeply worrying. For the sake of HMV's employees, we hope a way can be found to keep the business going. The demise of HMV – a national institution – would be a sad loss for British retail."
Chuka Umunna told Jo Coburn [BBC Daily Politics] that he had visited an HMV store over Christmas, but when pressed on what he had bought, replied:
“Er…I actually didn’t buy anything.”

2. Gordon Brown
Decided to turn up in the Commons today to raise the question of the possible closure of two Remploy factories in Fife.
During his time in Downing Street, Labour closed 28 Remploy factories, with the loss of 1,600 disabled people’s jobs. At the time, Brown described the factories as ‘unviable’.
Indeed, Brown’s government had planned to close as many as 43 factories, only to partially back down after a campaign by the unions, including the threat of strike action.
