Outback Truckers

Is anyone else watching on Freeview channel 38, Quest, Outback Truckers?

It is on the lines of the other "Truckers" series, like  Ice Road Truckers, but the massive road train drivers of Australia make all other driver jobs look like a picnic in a park!

Mud roads that form past the axle level bogs, roads that give way under the trucks, massive flooded rivers, choking red dust, with super atrocious weather, etc, etc are just some of the challenges these heroes, who drive 10+ axle monster road train trucks with multiple trailers that make the American versions look like Matchbox toys, face on their epic journeys across the Australian outback. It is awe inspiring, with even last night us seeing two massive tractor units attached to each other haul an 80 wheel, multiple steering, trailer that carried a 100 tonne quarry dumper truck.

Anyone who loves big toys, heavy pieces of engineering, will love this.  I was so pleased as well to see a 'Sheila' driving one of these 10+ axle road trains, but she was as feminine as you can be being a mother of 3 and an ex-model.  Even in this cruel Australian landscape a women can hack it! :D :D :D :y

This is just a taste of the action:

Yep Lizzie,
I watched last weeks as well - it's mind boggling. It's a pity they didn't have any footage of the car following her when she ran over the sheep last week  :o. I wouldn't fancy that being spat out onto my bonnet at whatever speed she was doing :-X :-X.
Makes the distances on IRT look like a trip to the corner shop  :)

Yep Cem, and you know doubt saw the two road grading machines being used to first try and level the mud/swamp road then, with chains, both giving more pulling power to the road train.  Awesome! :y :y :y :y :y :y
