This girl called in sick at work for two days.

She said: "My boss phoned me up two days later and asked, 'Did I have a nice time?'

"My workmate had grassed me up and all my pictures were over Facebook.

"I should have set my privacy settings."

Oh, and the BBC's yoof-orientated crapfest called Newsbeat should not being encouraging deceit, IMHO.  >:(

So very true, i know people who have posted re a party and have then been ill the next day, a colleague at work recently unfriended me because I warned her on facebook about a post she was making - her choice her risk, from a professional point of view...... ::) ::)

I am very much aware of this, have used facebook to gain evidence myself, not in relation to employment issues, young people need to realise that posting every day to day movement is not a good idea........... :-X :-X

I was feeling bad, so I rang my boss and said: "I've got a wee cough".

He said: "You've got a week off".

"Cheers boss" I said! That was nice of him!



On the serious side though, she's even got the nerve to put her face on the internet as though she's somehow unfortunate and done nothing wrong!

I read somewhere recently that in some states of the US, as part of a job application they may demand your password to your facebook, twitter or the likes of account!!  :o

I wonder what they'd make of a OOF account?  ::)

 . . . and not just youngsters, how many politicians and others have come a cropper by putting stuff out there, Twittiots !

But employees have always "thrown sickies". The upside is that social media makes it easier for them to be found out. My view is that if an errant empolyee is stupid enough to put incriminating stuff on facebook and Twit-ru, then he/she shouldn't have that job.

Friend of the missus recently went for a job interview as a teacher - it was going fairly normally until one of the panel brought up a comment she had made on Facebook, and apparently it went downhill fast from there....
 
 If you're stupid enough not to apply the appropriate security measures to your account then you get all you deserve IMHO. I see an awful lot of people slagging off bosses, customers, clients etc on Facebook, despite briefing after briefing about correct use of social media, and it makes me wonder whether anyone's got any common sense left at all  :-X

.....now, for some unknown reason, downgraded to 4.8%. :'( :'(
