Engine warning lights ?
« on: 05 March 2013, 17:14:04 »

The engine orange warning lamp started to stay on all the time and was diagnosed a the MAF sensor(don't know the codes just got the garage to tell me what was wrong) So i changed the MAF  plus the Lambda just encase 2 Thursdays ago. Since then i have driven 750 miles. Today i was going down the garage to have the codes cleared and turn the orange light off but apon starting the car the light turned it's self off as it's meant to. Thinking ive saved myself £20 i cancelled the garage then 15 miles down the road i noticed the engine with the spanner lamp is no staying on.
As i had to go to Southampton(a round trip of 70 miles) i thought the light was just a glitch. On the journey not problems at all, ran smooth, no loss of power, didn't use any more fuel that usual,no funny noises. As with the engine lamp will this go out on it's own if not what could be the problem.

The light is on when there is a fault, it goes out when the fault is fixed. It cannot be "turned off"

What engine is this on, 2.0 or 2.2?

Can you also confirm if its the light shaped like an engine or spanner?

Either way, you need to get the codes read and post them up here.  2.2 will need a code reader, 2.0 won't  :y

It a 2002 2.2 the lamp now on is the one of a car with a spanner. Just seems strange the engine warning lamp now works as it should but the above is now on

The "spanner" light stores codes, the "engine" light is emissions related ;)

Shouldn't it have been on before i changed the maf and lambda as before the engine would hold back all the time

Just got back from a 280 round trip(Selsey,Cheltenham) Car ran smooth and perfect. Cruise set at 70mph most of the time and returned 36 MPG. So don't understand why this lamp has come on.
