Omega Air-Con Help...
« on: 09 March 2013, 19:30:24 »

I know there's no need (at present) for it but mine has never worked apart from a few hours when i had it re-charged and tested for leaks last year by a ATS garage... One things for sure I wont be using those Muppet's services again in future.

 Anyway's...

I was wondering is there any in depth details and possibly pictures or diagrams of the air-con system for the FaceLift 2.2 Auto saloon and possible common faults/week spots etc.. As i'm going to try and attempt to fix it this year my self (not sure why but its about the only luxury the GLS has and it ain't working never has), If not will try and find someone who only specialises in this type business if not too expensive that is.

I remember the day i had it filled with the assurance that it hasn't got a leak  ::)  But when it was working (not very long) it was great the air smelt so fresh and clean and relaxing.. :'(

(wont be doing the repairs any time soon just trying to weigh my options up)

{oh and just to make me feel better or worse  ;D  , I've put a poll to see how many of you have a working Air-con system}

Thanks in advance...

 :)

Mine works perfect on all 3 of my Migs. I always run them for 10 minutes every couple of weeks to make sure the seals don't go hard.
The garage i go to guarantees that after leak tests and recharging if within 2 weeks a leak is found that they will refund the monies back to you. Cost me £25 per car.

The pressure valve on mine was the weak link apparently but Vx don't test for pressure unless you ask them. I hope to get mine sorted before the 'summer' but get someone to check the pressure for you. A new valve is only a few quid, though Vx will try to deny its existence  ::)

I have a pic but can't add it as I'm on my phone atm. If no one else has one I could email it to you perhaps?
It's under the small black cap on top of the aircon pipe that runs across the front of the engine, or at least it does on a V6, not sure about 2.2.

I'm guessing you mean the the valve with the black cap in this photo.

Air con worked well on all Omegas I've owned incl the current Estate.
It packed up on the old Elite Estate when the compressor bearings seized - as I was selling it on put a shorter aux belt on.  Did a compressor swap on Elite saloon a few years back (cluch seized) - a bloody awkward job - regassed and all good.
