There's been much debate about this issue. Thankfully I haven't (yet?!) suffered it myself, but one member suggested using foam / draught excluder stuff, wrapping it around the internal parts of the pin within the door, iirc.

Personally i would not bend the rods, i would remove the button and wrap some black electrical tape around the bottom section of the button to min the gap between the button and door trim. dont go too made with the tape as it will stick if too much tape applied.

I have found locking the doors cures the problem, Probably not the best idea if in a serious crash but it will do for now

The central locking will unlock the doors in a crash - part of the airbag/srs system  ;)

I noticed rear edge of front door panels (whatever you call it) is not attached to door. A few plastic fasteners are broken probably. If I push panel toward door, button stops rattling.

On Omega they're not plastic fasteners, but a strip that runs along the underside of the door card and clips into the top of the door itself. This is a common problem where the strip starts to detach from the card, thereby being 'loose' and rattling.
There is a fix in the maintenance guides to solve this  :y
