Which is NOT PAYABLE on 2nd hand vehicles ... so the guy is ripping an extra 20% of purchasers in the name of VAT ..and probably going straight in his pocket !!!

So ........... you pay the price as is - & that's it. Can't see the problem. If it said £?  plus VAT then I'd agree, but what ever it's sold at is the price the buyer pays. Any mention of VAT is just a distraction

It must be classed as a commercial vehicle to which vat is applied.

Go to any car auction and you pay vat on a van of any age.

Agreed and if the price includes VAT and you as the buyer are VAT registered, you can claim it back.  Thats why the seller indicated the price included VAT

Unlikely as seller is registered as a business seller and is probably VAT registered

There's a red one from West Cork running around over here , I have to say it does look the business and it goes...........
That in saloon form overe here would cost €1600 + a year to road tax but the Maloo is classed as a commercial and attracts €330 instead .
A two seater sports tourer with a HUGE boot ,  Lovely !
