lpg quote
« on: 14 May 2008, 01:15:10 »

HI All

Thinking of converting my Omega and got the below quote ? Dose anyone know
http://www.lpg-cars.co.uk/ and if they do good work an conversions & is this an good quote.

Thank you for the quote request. It just so happens that we have a Vauxhall being converted. If you get a chance to pop into the workshop then we’ll be delighted to show you around and answer any further questions.

This can be a great investment; you will be spending a lot every year on petrol and this is a fantastic way to halve your costs. And what’s more there is a government commitment on fuel duty until 2010. You will also be reducing CO2 emissions and your car will be more popular when you eventually sell it.

Our installation ensures the largest suitable tank with all components styled to your vehicle design and will take 5 working days. A courtesy car is available whilst we have your car.

I have attached a quote to fit the latest 4th generation multi-point sequential system, we offer two levels of service; Platinum and Gold. Both services ensure smooth running and fuel economy.

The Gold service includes a reliable and good quality system, designed with a 30,000 mile or a 2 year warranty. The charge for this service is £1,600 plus VAT.

The Platinum service offers a top of the range model, the quality and software integration is the best that I have come across. This increases the reliability above any system in the market; hence it comes with a 3 year warranty. The charge for this service is £1,875 plus VAT.
Both services include the installation of Flash Lube to protect the valve seats.

This quote is valid until 12th June. A pre-payment of £200 is payable to confirm your order. There is currently a 4 week waiting list.

I promise you’ll be impressed with the quality of the work and hope you will give me the opportunity to do the conversion for you.

Kind Regards

Karl Sanger

Reasonable for a pro, certified install.

If it was me, I'd do it myself for £600 ;)

If you are handy with a spanner, research it.

I was scared of it at first, but now I wonder what I was worried about ;)

Very similar quote to the one I am presently having fitted ... £1850 + vat

Key points from mine :

BRC system
80 ltr tank
Flash lube included
2 year warranty
Free 1000 mile check
courtesy car
5 day fitting
Full tank of gas  - (apparently I actually fill it under instruction !!)
Maps of UK gas suppliers

This is a national "chain" and I am using the one near Winchester. There are several reasons I chose this one, but .. a mate had is Rangie done by them .. he's very pleased, and the guy gave me the number of a previous 3.2 conversion customer, who was very enthusiastic when I spoke to him.

Seems like a good quote. The fact that he's willing to let you see the work being done on another car is positive.

Has he done any others? If you can get a first hand testimonial of his work from someone with the same car it's a good idea to.

I'll be doing my own, hopefully with a little assistance from Kevin to drill/tap a manifold for me.  ::) ::)

How?

Do you have to call in half way through the install?

They cant setup and test the system without a full tank of gas surely!

My conversion was similar to this. There was a £10 charge for them to put enough gas in to do their work and when I picked it up we drove to the nearest LPG garage (all of 800yards) where he took me through the filling process.
That was an old Rover which was converted for about £1800 and have since bought a converted 2.5 V6 CDX off them for £1000....like their work and very much like their prices

I'll not quote the whole questions ..but the point

Quote
Full tank of gas  - (apparently I actually fill it under instruction !!)

Was explained to me, in this way .. at least as far as I remember it ... :)

Quote
you need to allow an hour on "pick-up" as there some paperwork to do, we show you a few things you need to know, and we'll do a short drive with you. Then we'll go to the supply and you'll be shown how to connect and refill correctly, this will also give you a full tank of gas as you leave us

Hope that answers the questions raised above :)
