Hi, any idea's where to get cheap self leveling suspension for omega elite 3.0ltr? Also had the head gasket's changed last year and now have an annoying ticking. Any idea's. Thanks. Kerry.

Whats the problem with the suspension ?
Most common cause of ticking is leaking exhaust manifold (usually when engine is cold)  or noisy lifters.If its lifters, wynns lifter treatment often helps.

how can i check for leaks on the exhaust manifold, the shocks are standard but i still have the compressor at the front o/s working and pipes to the back working. The engine is a x30xe i think on a 2001 plate, so not sure about the lifters.

if you got rear shox that are not self levelling-then you dont need pump-the self level shox are quite expensive-gm only and your ticking noise-does it continue alll the time? or is it only there until engine warm?

obviously the ticking is my main problem, its all the time, as far as the shocks i've towed a caravan twice and the back end is on the floor.

Visually check the rear shocks, look for leakage. If you have a valve at the top on the outside (facing the wheel) it means they are self levelling.

Sounds like they have failed, the pump should make a short noise most mornings when started.

When working they should keep the rear at the same height no matter whats in the back, as above they are GM only and around £150 for a pair.

As it is an elite it should have self levelling shocks unless the previous owner has replaced with standard shocks, if it is dropping when towing I suspect that could be the problem because people put normal shocks on because self levelling are expensive,  but I bet they haven't changed the springs, because elite springs are softer than others and need to be changed too.

Saloon springs & estate springs are, unsurprisingly, completely differently from each other.

Genuine self levelling rear shock absorbers are about £150 for a pair if you have TC (trade club). Someone near you with TC may be able to help if you ask nicely

Alternatively andyc is assistant parts manager at Drive Vauxhall and can usually match TC price for mail order (but with delivery cost added )

Estate are different tops you can put MV6 saloon springs on though they are stiffer and are used with conventional shocks.
