I used feltham tyres a few years ago and they said they knew the omegas problems, so i trusted them, big mistake, they loaded the front foot wells with weight and promptley set the tolerances to the green factory settings, 6 months later the tyres were compleatly bald and almost thought to the canvass.
I then became a member on here and WIM were recommended, took it there, and to this day no more tyres being fubar'd.
lesson Learnt.

Had just the same problem on my front tyres, down to the second rubber just on the inside.  The correct Omega camber is set to cause that anyway but these were pretty bad.  WIM is nowhere near me, I tried National Tyres, they had all the gear and no idea (the batteries in their fancy expensive wireless wheel sensors were flat) and told me camber could't be adjusted (despite me showing them which bolt to adjust), idiots.  Went to Feltham Tyres in the end http://www.felthamtyre.co.uk they reset the camber and knew exactly what they were doing and were very familiar with omegas. Low price too.

A good sign is if they check the tyre pressures are equal before any test, if they don't it's all a waste of your time and money and tyres.

They're even further from me but I don't trust anyone else to do my geometry... At the end of the day, it costs less than half a tyre in fuel to visit them and they do it right :y

Bald all over or on the inside or outside edges?  Both?  Or the middle? Any feathering?  I don't understand the weights, they didn't do that with my full adjustment.  Adding weights before the camber setting would make it slightly less negative, maybe even positive, when the weights were removed. Less negative would mean less wear on the inside and longer lasting tyres (at the expense of worse handling).  Positive (unlikely) would mean wear on the outside edges. I think for your tyres to go in 6 months maybe they set the tracking way out. I can't think of a reason to add weights to set the tracking but I wouldn't think it would affect it that much.  Did it handle OK when you drove off? Did WIM add weights?

Incidentally I did 180K on my first omega with factory settings and no adjustments at all.  I never noticed any unusual wear on the tyres, perhaps a bit on the inside edges but not significant.  My tyres always got replaced due to general lack of tread or punctures outside the main tread. Mind you I do tend to drive straight everywhere and never brake. SWMBO complains I do straight 60 on both motorways and on roundabouts.  If it wasn't for traffic lights I would never stop and even for them you can sail though if you time it right and there's no old lady standing there.

Weights... Theory being that the weight replicates the missing driver/passengers, or whatever weight is in the car normally. The ride height affects camber, and therefor the best average ride height is dialed in when the camber is set.

This is partly why we say to check a car suspension and steering prior to set up, as soft and worn shocks and springs bounce around more, increasing suspension movement>ride height varies>camber deflects more>tyres wear more>handling goes off quicker. (if you have an elite which has very soft suspension, drive like Tunnie ;) )

Sounds like Ffcgarys Feltham tyres had good intentions with the weights, but made the common mistake of trusting the factory settings, which can go as negative as -2.** camber. This setting is completely unacceptable. Even 30mm lowered irmscher suspension recommends no more than -1.40. (which is still too much)

GMs settings (which are rubbish anyway, esp as the car ages) are based on 2 people in each front seat, hence why GM's settings have a little more camber than expected. This is what the weights are for.

Inner shoulder wear is caused (only) by too much camber. No ifs or buts.  Obviously worn suspension components can through it out, but invariably its the settings are guff. Only sensible advice is to check and replace worn suspension components, and then get it set up by somebody who knows what they are doing. This latter bit is where most geometry and tyre places seem to fall over...

But if a car has negative camber as standard (lots do for handling reasons including the omega) surely you're always going to get a bit more wear on the insides aren't you?

Even zero camber tyres will get more inside edge wear due to the camber that all single carriageway roads have.

I should have stated the inside edge of the tyres were bald to the canvas after feltham tyres set the geo, useing the weights in the footwells.

i found the place in swindon that has the hunter machine. its imperial tyres on elgin estate.i,ll go see them tomorrow.thanks everyone
Dont go there. They did mine and made my car worse. Not recommended.  :'( they told me the car was pulling to the left because of my tires. changed tires and still pulling to the left. Avoid them. I will never use them again.
