alternator removal TD

hello, trying to remove alternator on my tractor, cant find a how to in the guides.
has anyone done it or can tell me how to do it please?
outside in the rain and struggling ....
 :(

looks like manifold off ..Great!
i wanted to get it off and repaired this morning ,not looking likely now ,or there is a removal fee at repair place of £40 mmmmmm!!!

Given up for now!
 Spoke to local alternator /starter repair guy ,he reckons he has done them before but awkward to get off and has made a "tool" to do job.
He reckons about £65 to remove and refurb or new regulator at least.
I am happy with that so going Mon morning.

cant remember how I did it but changed mine 2.2 derv 2003 plate a wile ago took about 30 mins done most from underneath only needed to remove the engine tray hardest bit was getting the belt back on .its not to hard a job just hard to see what your doing ,sorry not much help but wanted to stop you from taking things off that don't need to be removed good luck with it sure someone will be along soon with more help

Its not a bad job to remove, but inlet does have to come off, as with most jobs on the TD.

The difficult part is removing it once its all been undone - not quite enough room in front between engine and rad (even with viscous and cowling removed), and no room backwards.  Seems bending battery tray is preferred options, and lifting alternator straight up

Did that while I was at it yesterday,
 I couldnt even get to all the release bolts on alternator  and I am quite flexible,but manifold was still on !

About 10mins to remove inlet, so quicker to remove than to mess around with it on :)

Right !!!
I have managed to free the alternator and slip the belt ,but no matter how I try which way i turn the darn thing I cannot get it out of the car,have bent battery tray back ,in fact is all a bit messy now but it looks like strut that supports the said tray needs bending towards the wheel arch is that right? ,the tray is never going to be the same again.
just a thought it is a f/l ,and cooler pipes seem to be in way a bit,they haven't put a bigger alt in have they?
wont even come close to escaping!!
Any ideas gratefully received!!.

All done now
Managed to get it out ,off to repair shop ,new regulator, bearings and slip rings{whatever they are}and brushes,£45.00 went back in a lot easier than it came out!!

Just got to unmangle the battery tray now Ha ha
