Mine don't naturally go as flat as Alb's without weight on them, But I don't see it as a problem/restrictive, as the aperture is the restriction.

Additionally there is a step up from the boot floor to the aperture, not sure if this would present a problem for your needs.

Estate is far more practical than saloon any day of the week mate-had both-you can get wheel chair in trunk but easier in estate IMHO Plus if you tint rear windows and fit load cover-everything out of view :y Another plus-load area makes a good bed area  :y

Mrs Egg has just told me that she doesn't want to drive a saloon, any way - cos she can't see where end of car is when she's reversing.
So that's the end of that idea  :)

Besides, the amount of crap stuff that I tend to accumulate in the boot warrants an estate. (or a van!)

Having only ever had saloons until I bought this R Class, I now know that there's nowhere to stow 'stuff' out of the way, where it won't rattle about in the load area & want to come & meet you up front in the event of a very sudden stop.  ;) ;)

I got a dog guard (the steel type, not the net one), specifically to stop stuff hitting the back of my head.
And I always carry a cargo net (not that I always use it  ::)  )
