Miggy is home  :)
« on: 16 May 2008, 14:39:34 »

The miggy is back where she belongs  :)

Had a few very minor problems with the air con/heating, basically there was an airlock, and they didn't know how to do a reset, so it wasn't working too well... apparently "someone" left all the doors & boot open at some point with the battery connected... so it went very flat!! - they have recharged it but the aircon went a bit daft it seems. Anyhow, a few "burps" and a reset and it's working again, although I think I have a thermostat on the way out... car has never run above 85, and now sits at about 75, as the vaporiser is taking mucho heat... :(

Did a 30 mile test drive and the guy showed me that nothing really has changed !! We switched it on/off a few times .. hardly noticeable !! No difference to power or response   :)

As advised I was then taken to the refill point, shown how to connect up, and filled it to shutoff.

All paperwork is in order, I've got my French adapter and drove home - 68 miles - with no problems at all. CID still works on computed info ... just the range never moved !!!

I've stuck some rough photo's up here

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1210944190/0#0

for anyone interested....  :) You can all have a good look at the Lakes/Newent (or pop round for a "tinny")

Bad news bits ....

Just found out the local LPG place has put his prices up to 61.8/ltr  :(  its still less in Swindon so I might go there.

Present Insurers wanted £87.56 to take on the conversion ... on a policy with only 14 days still to run !!!  Bloody rip-off  :(

However, phoned Elephant, they were happy to take me on right away, all they needed was the LPG certificate number, and they gave me a further discount so the price dropped below £300 !!

All in all .. I'm well pleased .. so far  :)

Glad to hear it's all sorted. Frustrated that I was at home just up the road and we missed each other. Oh, well. Where did he take you to fill up, by the way? Just wondering if there's a closer garage than I know of. Was it the one by the A34/M3 junction at Winchester?

Yes, of course. Give me a shout next time and we'll get together.

Yes. I'm rather intrigued that he used rail injectors after slating yours but it looks a neat install.

ECU has gone in the same place as we have always put it, which confirms there's nowhere else. Surprised that he didn't mount the vapouriser where we have but I'm guessing he didn't want to mess with relocating the aux. coolant pump.

Have you a Countrywide Farmers site near you?

Currently I pay 50p per litre, fill up as and when and get billed monthly -- might be worth a look

Thanks for that .. there is a countrywide in Swindon .. but I "heard" they require a certain minimum monthly useage ..   The "intention" was not to drive for fuel ... part of the research was the fact that I could get LPG 1/2 a mile away .. at that time he was the same price as calor in Swindon - who are now 54p/ltr.

It'll take a while to sort out the "best" system .. but as I hope to get at least 200 miles from a tank, I'll probably top-up every time I'm in town, and only use the local guy if I need to... it's still a lot cheaper than petrol which hit 114.9 here today .. :(

Was the flash lube system considered necessary? When I had my system fitted over 6 years ago, I was told it wasn't required. I just hope they were right.

I used to use Countrywide.......now using Shell in Swindon.......its 57ppl but i think Shell add propane to the lpg as well........my 2.2 certainly has more power on it........and i get more mpg  :y

But i have to add..........im looking at getting a diesel.......it costs me same.....at that price and a diesel 'should' be more reliable  :-/

I'd have thought you'd get a little more than that... Mind you, I know when mine's converted I'll be a bit heavier on the loud pedal so I'll not get much more I'm sure!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Glad you've got it back!!!  :y :y :y
