We are all responsible for our actions
« on: 26 May 2013, 19:17:30 »

If you write something on here that is libelous, like Mrs Bercow then you can be sued by the injured party.

If you write something that is blatantly racist, homophobic or incites violence against members of society, then you are breaking the law and you can expect to get your collar felt. As the people that were OTT on Twitter on Woolwich have found out.

Now it is not only you this causes a problem with but also the Admins who moderate OOF, which is why I fully support their actions when something has gone too far and maybe libelous, broken the law or is unacceptable behaviour to other members. They as the publisher could also be liable if they don't take action by pulling an inappropriate comment. Remember, they may save you from an expensive and ruinous libel action or an arrest and criminal conviction.

Now I haven't seen the comments pulled on another thread, but rather than getting up tight, they may have just saved you from a libel case or a criminal conviction, so a thank you maybe in order by the members concerned.

So lets please remember that the admins do this in their spare time for the good of the Omega car community and as "their baby" they want to quite rightly see certain standards upheld in terms of members behaviour towards each other and also the views they express on here.

It is not only OOF that is concerned on this, but also the Rt Hon John Redwood MP who wrote this on his daily blog the other day.

Well that saved me from writing something similar following some of the guff posted in the last few days.  I couldn't have put it much better from a legal standpoint :y

Additionally, in respect of the recent threads and some of the posts, remember we a not an arm of BNP (or UKIP, or any other party), nor are we a UK/Christian/White/Whatever only club. We have members all over the world, from all different religious, social and ethnic backgrounds.

A few of the posts recently certainly fall far short of expected behaviour of OOF members, and I'd just like to remind people that such offensive posts will not be tolerated. If anyone has a problem with that, there is an option to delete your account from within your profile.
