Fred was the type of Brit who built the Empire. His breed are nearly all gone now, never to be seen again in this guise sadly :(

He's honoured with a statue in town next to an old mill engine which is preserved in a glass case.
A fitting tribute to a great Boltonian.

Yes used to love watching his programmes on telly.He knew his stuff,also have his biography a cracking book about a cracking bloke.
