« on: 03 July 2013, 21:04:35 »

as title says the cat on my desmond tractor is about to call it a day, but the pipes seem ok so thinking about just cutting the cat out and bridging the gap with a bit of pipe.Has anyone done this and if so any difference in the way the car runs noise etc. Also what do you all think do I really need the cat does it do any good or not.

I gutted the cat on mine so the casing was still there should they ever change the MOT regulations.

I'd say it was very very slightly louder. Not a problem

Decating the DTi means they aren't so lethargic pulling away from a standstill and you should see a slight increase in MPG.

cut the cat out today and yep it does seem to pull a bit better even seems to have longer gears if that's possible ,cant say about the mpg yet as early days so we will have to suck it and see don't think it makes any more noise cant hear it over the radio any way.Just got to fit starter number 7 and all should be ok for a bit longer.
