I love threads like this about "overpaid" footballers ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is you, the football supporters, who pay for it all but continue to go to grounds and pay extortionate amounts to watch, or do the same when watching on Sky, as well as paying well over the odds for branded football kit! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do football supporters stop the madness by refusing to keep this manic situation going? No!

I say best of luck to these stars of football, as if they can use their natural skills to cream off the masses besotted with the game so be it! :D :D :D :D ;) :y

I often wonder how much stars from my boyhood days would cost nowadays. Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Kevin Keegan, Georgie Best, these kind of guys.

I always liked the Alf Garnett quote (paraphrased):
"Look at all the rich teams: Newcastle. Liverpool. Manchester. Leeds. Sheffield. Birmingham. All towns with massive unemployment. All the supporters are on the dole. They're subsidised by the bloody government."

Indecent amount of money for a footballer  IMO . . .  :o :o :o

Were they not thinking of a "cap" on transfer fees a while ago ? :-\ :-\

Its market forces. Having said that its a bit of a sad reflection on our society when market forces dictate that amount for a bloke who kicks a bag of wind around a field.
Centuries ago we used to worship strange little statues (idols),the sun,the moon etc, then a man up in the sky,now we worship "celebrities" and people who are famous for being good at various types of games. Its a funny old world really.

Yep I agree. Silly money
But if the sale goes ahead (and it's NOT certain) it is estimated that Bale will get paid around . . . £180,000 PER WEEK. :o

I don't know about everyone else here, but that would suit me just fine, and I wouldn't care what I had to do for it . . . . well within reason  ::)    ::)

Good luck to him.If someone was prepared to pay me that amount of money,I wouldn't turn it down.
Its ironic though that its a Spanish club paying the money. Spain is bankrupt & penniless.Their economy is a complete basket case. ::)

have to say I agree with Wenger's comments about this-madness and it doesnt do the game any good at all. So much for UEFA's promises eh? Not that us Baggies worry too much about spending so much dosh ;D (anyhow,im quite happy with Anelka and Lugano so far with the possibility of Kalou and Sinclair to follow)
