omega replacement
« on: 12 August 2013, 19:44:44 »

Evening all,I hope to be able to call on your collective knowledge to answer what might be a simple question. The elite is now rustier than a rusty thing and in need of a cambelt and air con repairs so sadly I think it is time to get rid. I am looking at the Phaeton diesel as a replacement and wondered if any of you kind gentlemen could tell me if a car on a 55 plate will have a DPF as I only do mainly short journeys apart from the occasional holiday and I understand this will fubar a DPF if fitted thanks in advance Adrian

Yes 2 people on here have the Phaeton - myself and Doz. The V6 diesel has a DPF. I never use the car for regular short journeys and you will get problems unless you give it a good run on regular basis at decent speeds. You have to get up to a good speed for a good stretch to have effective regeneration. I use the Omega for short journeys.

ok thanks for the info. Given a diesel is probably not an option and petrol phaetons (3.2) are rare any opinions on Mercedes s class around the same year probably 3.7 or 3.5
