Mark ok makes sense, so basically replace with new one, to confirm it is the crankshaft sensor that needs replacing, if so is it the same procedure as for the 2.2 tdi in the how to section as nothing for a 4 pot there.

Genuine is recommended, procedure is the same as for the 2.0 16V (no guide on here but plenty on the web for the Vectra etc)

Mark final one looking at some of the sites they comment that if you do paper clip test without engine running you will always get a fault, if I have engine running then no flashing lights (cool engine and fault light out) but on here it just says "turn on ignition"

Another pointer is I have had it cut out for no reason once or twice

mine is a 2.0L 16 v

Sorry to keep on but want to make sure not wasting time  :y

0335 is Crankshaft Position sensor "A" circuit malfunction
is that the same as incorrect RPM signal? as that is what the code lists on the maint section
Yes and is the correct (and more useful/descriptive) one for the Vx setup

Yes I was using the standard obd2 listing, where can I find the vx setup list?  It would be handy on this forum if it isn't already.  The generic list only has 3 mentions of RPM:

0505 Idle control system RPM higher than expected
0505 Idle control system RPM lower than expected
0654 Engine RPM output circuit

On the older ECUs with 2/3 digit fault codes, you get a 31 if not running, or 19 if ECU definately believes its misreading crankshaft signal.

2.0l from about 1997 uses the 4 digit codes, so 0335 directly relates to earlier code 19.

When you say its cut out, was that at speed or when idling/slowing down?

Did that, searched for 'OBD2', 'OBDII', 'OBD', nothing.  Found it eventually buried under a paperclip, then a link in the second post down here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.msg1155463#msg1155463. ::) ::)

And after all that it seems the official OOF description of 0335 is exactly the same as I said originally >:(.  Seems like the hidden OOF guide is wrong? ;)
