Gardening question
« on: 30 August 2013, 12:46:41 »

Hi all you green-fingered types :y

Simple question.....how do you get rid of ivy. Just got loads of it at the back end of the garden. What can I spray on it.
I have a big bottle of neat sheep dip in the garage, if I dilute it a bit and spray that on it, will the tar content kill the plant. Got to be a bit careful, because swmbo has some shrubs there, and my temporary aviary is close by.

Here's hoping :y

You can either cut it off at the base and let it die or spray it with Glyphosate weedkiller to kill it and the roots

personally I would cut the stems twice so as you have a gap between, and then paint neat glysophate/roundup over the stems coming from the ground. that way you have no problems with spray drift, and your good lady's plants are safe ! that's what we do for Hampshire schools.
