Garage in London to change rear wheel bearing
« on: 12 September 2013, 18:38:08 »

Hi guys. I need help! I'm going on holiday on Monday and need my car for then. Problem is no one I know or of, Vauxhall specialist included can do the job before then. My Machanic says its the drivers rear but can't do it as he doesn't have the tools. Ill be doing a 1000+ miles in the next two weeks. Does any one no of anyone who can do the job before Monday? I know it's cheeky but ya don't ask.... It's on a 03 omega elite 2.2 dti. Hope someone can point me in the right direction before this winning noise gets to me. Why now  :-*
Thanks in advance.

Sassanach is good on rear barings, but he's in Bath i think...or somewhere out that way.

Will it drive that far? Does seem an excessive journey obviously, but not sure what else to suggest. Tbh

There's nothing particularly special about the tools. The bearing itself is easily done with the same tools used for a front wheel drive bearing(my set was about £40). A bit of ingenuity is required to extract the hub first; mine was cobbled together out of scrap in about 15minutes.
I've now done two, both in the street outside my house in about 3 hours each time. In a workshop, with the car on a lift and with airtools I would expect that to be under 2.
