3.2 v6 conversion.
« on: 07 October 2013, 03:40:25 »

I have recently bought an engine that was meant to be a 3.0 v6 the engines now in the car but there is no rev limiter. I know the 3.0 v6 does but why doesnt mine. I have also thought it might be a 3.2 v6 but why do the 3.2 engines not have a limiter?

Easiest way to tell is the throttle...

3.0 has a cable throttle, 3.2 has electronic :y

There are other differences, but things like dbw coil packs can be fitted to later 3.0 engines easily enough or a single dis pack and individual leads to a 3.2...so throttle is a clearer indication.

Any rev limiting is in the ECU, rather than elsewhere.  Some chav-chips have the limiter removed to get the stated bhp (more revs, more bhp).

Please explain to a humble printer how you discover a rev limiter by flicking the key on and off.
